Dr. Orman

“The role of the principal is a servant’s role,” Orman said. “I value school pride, student ownership in learning, teacher innovation, an atmosphere of collaboration, and most of all, continual growth and improvement. Our culture will be built on every child being college and/or career ready. Our collaborative work will establish Eastern’s place as a leader and innovator in education nationally.”

Taking on the new role of principal at Eastern High School represents an exciting homecoming for Dr. Heather Orman. Her career includes 16 years in JCPS before becoming principal at a high school in northern Kentucky in 2018.

Orman has dedicated more than two decades to education. She taught math and English/language arts, and worked as a literacy recovery specialist before moving on to school administration. Orman’s time in JCPS includes stops at Meyzeek Middle School and, most recently, Seneca High School, where she served as an assistant principal for four years.

Orman earned a bachelor’s from Midway College, a master’s degree from Indiana University Southeast, and a doctorate from Bellarmine University.

Letter from Administration

Welcome to the digital tour of Eastern High School. Eastern High School has a long tradition of educational excellence and outstanding opportunities for student involvement. Academically, we provide high quality learning experiences in the core areas, and also offer a wide range of challenging electives. Students are able to take advantage of many different Advanced Placement and Advanced Program classes, or choose college credit courses offered in partnership with University of Louisville, Bellarmine, Sullivan, and others. These courses help students develop the necessary intellectual and analytical skills needed in college and give them a head start on accruing college credits.

Our new Technology and Business theme is an excellent program to prepare students for the rigors of college learning while providing them with the technological skills necessary to succeed in the corporate sector. Students will be able to attain multiple technology certifications before they graduate from Eastern, giving them the edge when applying for summer internships and university programs. Eastern is proud to house the largest technology program in Jefferson County and one of the largest in the state of Kentucky.

Students will also find various extracurricular opportunities here. Over 25 athletic teams offer students the opportunity to develop their physical skills and also build character and good sportsmanship. We are competitive at both the local and state level and enjoy great community support for our teams. Students looking for other ways to be involved will find more than forty clubs to choose from ranging from the Art club to the Mock Trial Team.

The staff at Eastern High School is dedicated to creating an atmosphere of high expectations for students, a safe environment for learning, and a school community committed to academic and personal excellence. We hope you enjoy your visit to these pages and learning more about us.

“The thing I love the most about Eastern is the community. With how big the school is, it still feels so small. You have the ability to get to know so many people, join or create clubs, get involved with sports, and so much more. It is a place where I love to come back to each day.”
